We encourage and welcome parental involvement in the daycare. Through parent/staff interaction, we provide an environment that will benefit the children. The daycare plans and organizes special events for parents, such as Mother’s and Father’s Days tea, Christmas Party etc. We also have an open door policy and invite parents to visit the centre at any time.
During our circle time, we invite the children to listen to stories and sign songs in order for them to practice and develop language and vocabulary. They will develop their singing voice and understanding of music and rhythm. We encourage children to share stories with the group so they practice their speaking skills and group skills.
Circle times are planned around children’s observed interests. This is the springboard for all learning as children engage deeper in discovery when they are interested and motivated. Discovery learning is at the heart of all planning at our centre. By interacting with stimulating, engaging and varied materials, children learn about the natural world.
The norms of our contemporary society restrict activities based on differences in gender and age. It appears as if this systematic approach dictates what is essentially “fit” for your child. We reject such motion with strong beliefs that active learning is beneficial at any given age.
“Art engages children senses in open-ended play and develops cognitive, social, emotional and sensory-motor skills. Art is a cooperative learning experience that provides pleasure, challenges, and a sense of mastery. Instruction in the arts is of the best ways in which to involve the different modes of learning; through art, children learn complex thinking skills and master developmental tasks.” (Belden & Fessard, 2001)

(Johnson, 1999).”
